When I first learned about Reiki, I was skeptical but intrigued. It sounded both ridiculous and too good to be true. And yet, for the past seven years, I've used Reiki energy on many, many people to quickly and gently ease their pain and suffering.
Reiki is a form of energy medicine from Japan that gently balances the body's natural life force ("ki" in Japanese) to facilitate healing. It can help with pain, anxiety, inflammation, and promote the repair of wounds. To be clear, it's not me doing the healing. I'm channeling a powerful energy through my body and sending it out of the palms of my hands to help people, animals, or plants. (I'll be writing about Reiki and plants in an upcoming blog.) Here are some of the ways I've used Reiki over the years:
One of my favorite ways to use Reiki is on airplanes. I travel a lot, and often find myself seated near families. When fussy babies start to cry, I offer Reiki energy. So far, every baby has become calmer and quieter within a few minutes, often sleeping through the rest of the flight. I find myself using Reiki every day. It's fast and effective. It's easy and always conveniently "at hand". And, it's a joy to be able to ease another's suffering. Be well, Daphne
